Régis Scyeur, .NET software architect, data and AI

Slasher / Digital Architect / Fractional CTO / Coach

Régis Scyeur

As a .NET software architect and founder of Zebra Puma Services, I design and integrate systems, data and artificial intelligence for SMEs, businesses and institutions, in Belgium and Morocco. I help SME owners transform their businesses and rediscover the purpose that made them start. A slasher in the truest sense: several trades, one coherent whole.

As a child, I find school boring; computing, on the other hand, fascinates me from the early 1980s, with the first microcomputers and their knack for automating whatever repeats itself. For more than thirty years, I have made it my profession, serving the digital transformation of businesses, public institutions and entrepreneurs.

My first project already raises the question that guides my whole career: how does IT make everyday work simpler? As a student, I present to the board of an insurance company the prototype of its first electronic document archive. An accident report is scanned, then attached to its record in the brokers' software, at a time when scanners and networks are still rare.

Some milestones

  • Insurance: multi-line, multi-insurer pricing software for brokers, and its automatic updates, first over BBS, then over the Internet.
  • Public sector: the architecture of applications for recruitment, registration and sitting exams.
  • 2005, eID: on stage with Microsoft, at Kinepolis Brussels, the live demonstration, for a Belgian Federal Public Service, of an application built on the brand-new Belgian electronic identity card.
  • Belgium and Morocco: a development entity in Casablanca since 2006, serving the Belgian market.
  • IP telephony: application integration for call centres, up to a 1,500-extension Asterisk architecture for a major private group.
  • Ticketing: mobile points of sale and numbered tickets, notably for Cirque du Soleil. In 2014, for the Gnaoua Festival in Essaouira, entry control with QR codes over 4G, with a backup switchover in case of outage.
  • Brokerage & Insurance: taking over B2B operations from insurance companies, and developing products with online underwriting.
  • Distribution and e-commerce: the digital transformation of catalogue and product reference management. For spare parts distribution, in the automotive and leisure sectors, I build the entire processing chain. It automatically acquires dozens of supplier catalogues, aggregates and normalises references and their equivalences, checks prices, stock and freshness, then feeds the ERP and the e-commerce sites. The result: a single source of truth, updated daily.

An approach centred on listening and architecture

Every project follows the Zebra Puma Services approach:

  1. Understand the real need.
  2. Map what already exists.
  3. Reuse the wheel when it exists, rather than reinventing it.
  4. Assess the business, technical and human constraints.
  5. Build a lasting architecture, before the first line of code.

When a solution exists, I integrate it. When it has yet to be built, I design the architecture that gets systems talking to each other and delivers applications that last. Rather than fashion, I choose longevity, return on investment and the Pareto principle: the 20% of effort that delivers 80% of the result. And I favour win-win relationships, built to last.

Reusable building blocks

A container ship docked beneath the cranes of a terminal, loaded with containers of every colour.
Standard containers, assembled to suit each cargo: the image of my software building blocks.

I have always created building blocks and frameworks that improve development. Like Lego, or like the containers a ship loads in port, each project takes the ones it needs, and gains in reliability, speed and quality. My building blocks today are .NET libraries. Some are published as open source on GitHub, others commercially, as NuGet packages.

Data, security and artificial intelligence

Article cover: an AI agent at work in production

Technologies change; principles remain. Today, information and its security lie at the heart of every digital transformation: they are the raw material that helps teams and artificial intelligence alike make better decisions. My speciality: the end-to-end data flow, from acquisition to aggregation, from control to distribution, right through to the e-commerce site that shows the right price and the right stock. AI delivers its full value within a coherent architecture: reliable information, secure exchanges, integration with existing systems and a clear business goal. The latest article on the site tells the story of an AI agent at work in production, with a human in the loop.

Zebra Puma Services

Zebra Puma Services specialises in software architecture, systems integration and data flows, notably the supplier catalogues of spare parts distribution and e-commerce. Through the company, I support SMEs, businesses and institutions with:

  • .NET software architecture, across multiple environments: Windows, Linux, mobile;
  • the integration of business systems: CRM, ERP, accounting, e-commerce;
  • APIs and exchanges between applications;
  • catalogue flows: acquisition, aggregation, control and distribution to the ERP and e-commerce;
  • databases and SQL: quality, analysis and making the most of information;
  • the modernisation of existing applications;
  • the integration of AI and AI agents into information systems;
  • DevOps, industrialisation and agile methods;
  • technical leadership, as a fractional CTO.

I also share what I have learnt in the site's articles.

Digital transformation, human transformation

My conviction: digital transformation and human transformation are two sides of the same coin. Connected systems, aligned teams. Aligning teams means coordinating trades, respecting everyone and giving everyone their place to get involved: alone, you go faster; together, you go further. A project succeeds when the people who carry it embrace it, which is why I also support individuals and teams, as a certified NLP coach, with Un Autre Moi.

“Listening and reflection before any transformation, improvement or creation.” That is my motto, written on my GitHub, and the way I work: before transforming a system, I understand the people who use it. Every time, I learn a new trade.

Your systems? Connected!
Your teams? Aligned!

A system to connect, an ERP to integrate, data to put to work or an AI project to scope?
Let's talk about your goals before we talk about technology.
